What Keeps Us Going?
After such an emotional week, it’s been good to think about what keeps us going as a family. One of the most helpful ways we have learned to put one foot in front of the other is therapy. So much so that we joke that to be a Faruqui in our household, you have to have a therapist 😅
We are all experiencing anticipatory grief and going through this journey together…but each of us has unique struggles, and we process things SO differently. We each have a different therapist for that exact reason — we all need different approaches without any conflict of interest.
While I am very open about going to therapy and wanting to have a therapist, it has not always been an easy step for Safi and the girls. It takes courage, willingness to do hard work, and acknowledgment that help is needed.
Here are some wise words from Soraya about how therapy has helped her and why it’s so important ❤️
For anyone struggling with feeling isolated or unsure about “needing” a therapist, please know you’re not alone. As I tell my patients – everyone can benefit from a therapist!
Here’s wishing everyone grace and gentleness in the days ahead…
