Gala shopping With the Gals!

Soraya had a BIG day today – she went shopping for a dress for the upcoming Make-A-Wish gala!

Ever since she was a little girl (age 4), we would drive by the local dress shop Kotsovos Prom and stare at the dresses in the window. She would tell me that she would go there when she’s older when it’s time to shop for prom.

Fast forward - it’s time for a gala dress and what better time to check out the store she’s been dreaming of!?

I called ahead made sure they were wheelchair accessible (✔️) that they could pre-pull dresses as Soraya gets tired quickly (✔️) have a seamstress available (✔️), and ok with lots of pictures as we want to share our love for Make-A-Wish (and ✔️).

Kaytlin, our nanny, and Ali from Make-A-Wish were Soraya’s cheering section and Soraya’s decisiveness made her dress choice clear.

When she tried it on a second time, she spoke to her dress: “I love this dress. You are my number one. I feel confident. You are the dress that I have been dreaming of.” 🥰

What’s even better than finding your dream dress? Working with our kind salesperson Faith and owner Victoria Kotsovos.

As we were checking out, Victoria gave a generous donation to Make-A-Wish in the honor of their son George Kotsovos.  What an unexpected kind gesture and what an unexpected way to connect with a stranger – grief and loss.

As we walked out, Soraya said, “When I wear this dress, I feel like my future is bright.”  What an incredible way to end the visit.

Did I mention Soraya still has a choir concert tonight?  We may have given her extra Starbucks and mid-afternoon nap to get through!

Hope your Tuesday is as bright as ours ☀️
