Hawaii Make-A-Wish Trip Throwback!
Note: This post is comprised of snippets from multiple posts from 2022. They were originally shared via the blog we used to update our friends and family on Soraya’s health before I created my Instagram account.
February 2022
The Make-A-Wish foundation is officially granting Soraya’s wish of going to Hawaii and hopefully learning how to surf! We recently confirmed dates and are headed to Oahu May 1-7, 2022. Needless to say, we are ecstatic and can’t wait to feel the Hawaiian sunshine on our faces ☀️🏄♀️

We made it to Hawaii! In typical Faruqui fashion, we had some challenges along the way…
On the day of travel, we got a phone call at 1:55am that our 6am flight had been delayed so long in Cincinnati that we’d miss our connecting flight to Hawaii. Our options were leave a day later, take two connecting flights, and arrive two days late, or get to Louisville, Kentucky to try to catch an 8am flight.
Our driver arrived at 3am thinking she was driving us to the Cincinnati airport…we begged and she kindly drove us to Louisville. 🙏
Thank you Make-A-Wish! Let’s Make-A-million-Memories. Thank you for all the fun family and friends that decided to come hang with Soraya and the family.
Let the fun begin!!!!!
May 8, 2022: Hawaii Highlights
Hawaii was a magical time for everyone! We made so many great memories and Soraya had her Make-A-Wish come true. Our entire family got to surf. Safi and I were a little more terrified than excited but the girls, especially Soraya, loved every second of it.
We would have never had enough guts to travel with all the medical gear and time change to Hawaii with the whole family. Thanks to Soraya and Make-a-wish we were made brave enough to do it.
Thank you to our cheering section who took time out of their busy lives to help make this dream come true for Soraya. While Hawaii and surfing was one part of Soraya’s wish - family was the other part.
Thank you to Steve, Kristi, Amia, Julie, Fahmida, and Jon for making it a party for Soraya all week. Amongst the beauty of this trip, there were moments of sadness and so grateful to have a crew be with us through all of it ❤️
Mahalo 🙏
