Being Greater Than Yourself
The Andy Grammer concert last night was INCREDIBLE.
We had VIP tickets and kicked off the evening with the meet-and-greet. When it was my turn to meet Andy, I gave him the FIRST printed copy of my manuscript(!!!) with a handwritten note thanking him for carrying our family through the darkest times just by being him. When my book is published, I plan to donate proceeds to children’s hospitals, Make-A-Wish, and breast cancer prevention/cure in his honor ❤️
After taking tons of pictures, Andy had us VIPs play a connection game before the show started. We all sat and passed a string with a light at the end while he faced away and played music. When he stopped the music, he’d turn around and ask whoever was holding the light one fun question (ex: what’s the weirdest app you have?) and one more personal/deep question (who inspires you the most?). It was such a great way to get to know everyone!
Andy asked for a volunteer to be his mother during the show since she passed from breast cancer before being able to see him perform......of course I volunteered 🙌🏾
I got to cheer the loudest and he asked me for advice throughout the show. It was the best role!!!!!!!
The theme of the show was being GREATER THAN yourself. Andy filled it with poetry, personal stories from the audience, acoustic music, connection, and love. It truly was a sermon for my soul ❤️
Our amazing babysitter’s club, my med school bestie Lindsay Rerko and her husband Mike, and my dear friend Mary Burkhardt experienced this magical night with us. We couldn’t have been surrounded by better people.
THANK YOU Andy Grammer for everything. You are joy personified!
